Laura Laffrado - Literature, Feminist Studies
Laura Laffrado celebrates the once well-known
but now forgotten Pacific Northwest writer Ella Higginson in her book
Selected
Writings of Ella Higginson: Inventing Pacific Northwest Literature (2015).
Laffrado, a professor at Western Washington University, is also the author of
Uncommon
Women: Gender and Representation in Nineteenth-Century U.S. Women’s Writing(2009, 2nd edt: 2015), a book that looks at provocative yet highly readable
nineteenth-century women writers who test our notion of female agency and
women's self-narrative. Laffrado further wrote
Hawthorne's Literature
for Children (1992) where she examines an often neglected aspect of
Nathaniel Hawthorne's writings.
