Former island resident Elizabeth Corcoran Murray
is the author of
A Long Way From Paris (2014), a KIRKUS Best Book of
2014. The book chronicles her life herding goats in Southern France.
Murray also wrote
Life Kind of Sucks (2014), a tiny book of ideas for
rough patches in life. Other work by Murray has appeared in
Hybrid Mom,
Strokes and Spokes, Seattle Child, and
Peninsula Gateway.
Her short story
The Urban Goatherd was nominated for a
Pushcart award and received honorable mention by New Millennium Writings.
Murray also teaches writing at Tacoma Community College and Seattle Central
Community and is the founder of
