Steven Purcell - Christian Spirituality
Steven Purcell is the current Director of Laity Lodge, a Christian retreat center in Texas. He lived on Bainbridge Island prior to 2006 and is the author of Even Among These Rocks (2001). The book contains thoughtful meditation exercises for the Lenten period by reflecting upon the art of Caravaggio and Rembrandt, the poetry of T. S. Eliot, and the music of Ralph Vaughan Williams, among others. Purcell adds his own reflections on these works of art and on the meaning of Lent. The book, hand-lettered by Purcell and illustrated with watercolors and art reproductions thoughout, makes for a beautiful and special book to read or to give as a present.
