Melvin M. Leiman - Economics, Racism
A retired professor of economics, Mel Leiman is a lifelong Marxist activist against bigotry and war. He is also the award-winning author of The Political Economy of Racism: a History (1993). In it, Leiman argues that the persistence of racism can be explained in terms of the changing economic and political needs of different groups of capitalists. It is a controversial argument that challenges existing theories of racial discrimination from both sides of the political spectrum. Leiman is also a lecturer on the 'A-Infos Radio Project', a grassroots broadcast media project that seeks to support and expand the movement for democratic communications worldwide.
