Christopher Brookes - Health, Self-Help
When Christopher Brookes was told in the early 1970s that he had only a few months to live he refused to listen. Instead, he wrote When The Doctor Drops the Bomb (1973) and otherwise continued to lead a long and active life. Brookes' book is a guide designed to help the seriously ill through the health care maze. More importantly, it provides hope and inspiration through survival stories. Brookes' philosophy can be summed up as follows: "Survivors never accept physicians' word bombs like incurable or terminal as the final word, regardless of the odds. They don't deny what they are told, but somehow find the will and the way to fight back. Fighting back keeps the spirits up and hopes alive."
