Welcome to the Library!

The Bainbridge Island Library is a unique public/private partnership.  The library building and grounds are owned by the people of Bainbridge Island, managed by a volunteer Board of Directors (Bainbridge Public Library), and funded solely by private donations.  Staff, technology, books and materials, and administration are provided by the Kitsap Regional Library system and funded by property tax dollars.  The Bainbridge Island Library is a branch of the Kitsap Regional Library.

The Bainbridge Island Library is a welcoming community center with activities, programs, and resources for all ages.  As a testament to the community's appreciation, more than 200 energetic and dedicated volunteers give their time and talents to keep this resource available to everyone and meaningful to the quality of their lives.

Over 300,000 people visit the library each year and check out over 500,000 items from the collection.  We hope you enjoy your visit to the library.  If there is anything we can do to help you, please do not hesitate to ask.

NEWS ITEMS!

The Cynthia Lord Harrison scholarship committee has presented its first $1,000 award to Bainbridge Island library volunteer Tressa Johnson.  Tressa is enrolled in the library science degree program at the University of Washington and exemplifies all of the qualities the committee was seeking in this award:  dedication to the profession, leadership ability, and strong character.  Tressa is absolutely thrilled with the award, which will be featured in the next edition of the Library News and we hope in the Bainbridge Review as well.
